Welcome to the Balancing Factors page on the NativeOUT website. Balancing Factors is a media art & sustainable living contributions project founded by Carrie House and her late brother Conrad House, a well-known Navajo artist. Balancing Factors exists to educate the world about the unique traditional and spiritual paths of Two-Spirit people.

Two-Spirit people balance society, the world, and the cosmos.

Carrie is Two-Spirit, of Navajo and Oneida descent. She lives and works on the Navajo Nation and is an active organic farmer, green builder, and rancher. She is a contributor to the book Two Spirit Peoples, edited by Sue-Ellen Jacobs, Wesley Thomas, and Sabine Lang, and her poetry will soon be published in Two Spirit Collections (an anthology). She is a filmmaker, President of the Gallup Film Foundation, and a Board Member of the New Mexico Film Producers Association. Her film credits include the second film in the Balancing Factors project, I Am (1993) and her recent film Two Embrace (2008).
