The Two-Spirit Honor Project is a Native-run study and the first of its kind.
The study will:

  • Assess physical, mental, and spiritual strengths and needs.
  • Explore how Native culture and traditions:
    • enhance wellness
    • buffer against historical trauma, discrimination, alcohol, and HIV risk/exposure.
  • Explore other life experiences that affect Native health behaviors and wellness.

How can you get involved?

The project seeks urban Native American/Alaskan Native/First Nation people, 18 years or older who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgendered, two-spirit or self-identified heterosexuals, who have had sexual relations with persons of the same biologically born body within the last 12 months, regardless of self-identified sexual orientation or gender identity.

They will participate in the focus groups and interviews to help with the success of the study.

Participation in the study is confidential and voluntary. Each participant will be compensated for their time.

Focus groups and interviews will be conducted in six urban locations:

  • Seattle-Tacoma, WA (University of Washington)
  • San Francisco-Oakland, CA
  • Tulsa, OK
  • Minneapolis-St. Paul, MN
  • New York, NY
